We held a farewell lunch for Lydia as her 10-month study abroad program has come to an end.

This is a collaborative study with Dr. Matsuura from the Department of Gastroenterology at Kobe University, Dr. Abe (a former undergraduate student at Osaka University, now a resident), and Dr. Niioka from the Institute of Data-Driven Innovation at Kyushu University.

Ogawa-kun presented his research, "Investigation of the Relationship Between Polyploidy and DNA Damage," at the West Japan Medical Student Academic Forum 2024 and received the Oral Presentation Award. Congratulations!

Hayashi-kun's paper was published in Cell Death Discovery.

The paper reveals that polyploidization promotes the accumulation of genomic damage while mitigating its impact. This can be one of the mechansms of cancer evolution, and polyploid cells can be a source of cancer development and treatment resistance.

Matsumoto, Hayashi, and Harada participated in the 83rd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Cancer Association (Fukuoka). Matsumoto gave a presentation at the symposium. Hayashi and Harada’s poster presentations were also very well received.
